Free Alternatives to Pricey Software

Free and open source software offers many of the same file formats, functions, and capabilities as the expensive software it replaces. The free Open Office suite can be a good option to replace other more expensive "office" software programs; Google offers their free Google Apps suite for online use, the open source program known as GIMP can do most of what Photoshop can do, and with Picasa you can organize, browse, and edit your digital photos.

Below you will find links to online resources, free downloads of the handouts we use in our programs, and links to Amazon for books, software, and hardware where appropriate. Using these links to purchase these items benefits Upper Valley Digital and helps us to continue to provide the free information and handouts you can find here.
